About
What I'm looking for
Modern Linux is an exciting concept; in the time it takes Microsoft to release a new service pack you can see 2-3 major releases for each of your favourite distributions. Linux is accelerating away and pushing the boundaries of usability - pushing for more intuitive experiences and a better operating system environment for all. So what I'm looking for is high levels of usability; no faffing around in Xorg.conf, no apt-get from console, just a GUI that normal people can use.
Why?
Because Linux has always been stable but the main stereotype is that it's hard to use. I realised when toying with Ubuntu Breezy Badger that things were starting to change for the better and since then things have been improving at an astonishing rate. I'm going to be reviewing releases with a keen eye towards how easy they are to use as a primary operating system - simple.
Who am I?
My name is Steven York but I work under the alias of Seopher. Previous to starting Distro-Review I created Seopher.com which was a technology blog (where my Linux writing started), which organically shifted to being a blog on professional blogging. I've been using Linux for several years now and work as a web developer.
